Jim Crow Law

we had to do an activityt for the jim crow law thing so i did the one on voting then and voting now. for that i had to read what they went through, took part of their literacy test, read how they had to pay, but most of them didnt go because they said they were goin to arrest all of the black drivers. the point that the activity was to show what they went through just to vote. i learned that they went through a lot and we are very lucky that it is so easy for us to vote now.

This week

This week was ok... It seemed really slow even though we had Monday off...... So my bro and my dad want to but this car... Its a Mercedes Clk 55 kleman with a super charger :] hahha it was really kool when we went on the test drive :) we went like over 100mph . The car was really low and had sum really nice rims :] ....But anyways... The past few weeks have been ok... I went to palmsprings like last week and I took my boyfriend... It was fun...I guess :] lol I've been at my dads for a long time and haven't really gone to my moms..... ima go today after skool.... yeah so that'll be cool :]

1. what do you think causes the achievement gap?

• Kids not trying their hardest
• Parents not pushing their kids
• The curriculum at school

2. What can students do to close the gap?

• they can try harder and concentrate on school.
• do their work and finish assignments.
• have contest with some friends like to see who could get the highest grade.

3. What can parents do?

• get involved with their kids.
• keep a tight relationship with their kids
• give their kids encouragement(say good job and give a lot of moral support)

4. What can teachers/schools do?

• make the class work fun.
• give out rewards to the kids who do good.
• tell the kids that they did good and encourage them.

Quesions about Tom Hayden

1. what did you think of Mr. hayden?

• it first i thought he was going to be an old grupy guy, but he was really nice and he made every one laugh.

2.tom hayden doesnt think of himself as a civil rights leader. do you see him as one?why or why not?

• he is on a certain degree, because there were many people that took it was farther than he did. I do because he did more that i would have probably done, but i havent really tried anything yet.

3. Tom feels taht leaders are not as important as the hundreds or thousands of peoplebehind them. what does he mean by that?

• i think hes saying that the leaders are just speakers and its the people that are protesting are the main attraction.

This week was cool.... I did this thing at palms for our school.... like a recruitment ting.... And yeah.... Tonight im going to dinner with my boyfriend and his parents and my dad...I hope it goes well.... and yeah... I want to go to the basketball game... but I dunno if I can.. sooo yeah... ill post laters!!

stop HURTING yourself

I think the sign is saying like not to do things to yourself that will hurt you and possibly others. you really have to think about the upsides and down sides of the situation. i have a lot of situations and I have to think about them everyday, but id rather not talk about it, and I have to make a lot of decision. Sometimes you have to make decisions for your self, and that might not make the other person like you or hold a grudge on you. One example of a student hurting herself was yesterday where she drank alcohol and passed out. She threw up on the computer and had to go to the hospital. It was a very serious thing and she really should have thought about the consequences first, like if shell get in trouble, or who will it effect?? Something like that ... And yeah... I think it was really stupid to drink at school in the first place.

A) a quote that I think is true is that it is expected to fail the first time u do something... I think its true because no one is perfect and you have to fail b4 you can succeed...

B) my biggest failure is wheni make my mom and dad upset at me..... and it makes me feel bad.... but it doesn't happen often

C) I think u had us listen to the story because if we fail....Then its ok because were all human and its expected...

in this class the top 3 things ..well...at least the koolest are learning how to make websites, use flash and create cartoons or comercials, and we learned how to use CODE.... lol its really confusing...but now i can do my myspace..i guess...lol yeah i noe im a loser :]] 3 things i wanna learn in this class is how to do more stuff on dreamweaver and make more stuff on flash.....

and another thing is how to make different things..like.. websites...and how to make it a lot KOOLER!!

this past...week...

yeah...its been a while i guess since the last time i posted....and yeah.. its been crazy lately...ive been moving all of my stuff to my new house...and i havent had a lot of time to myself and to concentrat on school cause my dad is always asking for help on the house..and all that stuff...... and i hate it... i just wish i didnt have to move... i didnt even want to move in the 1st place.... and yeha... but ive been goins outlike every saturday...wit hmy bf bryan.... he goes to hami :[ yeah we went to knotts and 6 flags...and then we went to peirce college to see the maze.... and yeah..this saturday he wants me to go with him to the grifith observatory..sooo yeah.. im looking forward to that!! lol..ok well yeah... ill post laters!! bye!!! :]]
